As you probably know, our Belgian national team will compete in the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships in Amsterdam.

To support our national team, the Belgian Lacrosse Federation and our partner Kukri have put up a webshop where you can order Belgian Lacrosse merchandise. This way you can support the Belgium Beasts to reduce their team costs and look even more beautiful than you already are!

Rijmenam, December 3rd 2011: The Belgian Lacrosse Federation is proud to present the first edition of GALAX. A gala event for everyone in Belgium who loves lacrosse! It was also the occasion to reward the best players of the year. MVPs are chosen by the coaches/captains after each match, winners are those with the most points after the whole cup. Brewers reach finals, Lille plays for bronze

Buggenhout 21/11/11 – Buggenhout Brewers wrote history this weekend for being the first club after Red Rhinos and Lille Spartiates to reach the final of the Belgian Cup. *

Buggenhout surprised many people with their results in the group stage. Starting the season with a forfeit win against Kings Lacrosse and a respectable 7-13 loss against unbeaten Red Rhinos, they are currently on a franchise record five game winning streak, after beating Ghent Goblins, Heist Hunters, Lille Spartiates twice and Hall’igators to get to the finals.

Saturdays game was a rematch of the group stage game that ended in Buggenhout’s favor 13-11 two weeks before. The conditions were almost identical. Good lacrosse weather and the second spot up for grabs. Unlike the first game where Lille managed to quickly score 0-4 it was the Brewers side that won the first face off and controlled the pace. The continuous possession led to a well deserved lead. Brewers played a very mature game and continued to control the tempo of the game, trying to set up offensive plays.

The score was 5-1 in favor of the Brewers but Lille came back and scored the 5-4 in a three-man-up situation (although Lille needed four shots to finally beat Brewers goalie Maxim Rossel). Flashback to the league game against ISB where Brewers gave away a 6-3 lead to lose in OT, 6-7. Catalyst for that loss was four men on the penalty bench Luckily the team has come a long way since then and answered like it should: on the field with good fundamental lacrosse. Face off king Nick Van Ransbeeck won two consecutive face offs and managed to score twice in the span of a minute. The score was 7-4, a lead Buggenhout would hold until the end of the game. They did a good job defensively, holding all time top scorer François Labbé to only one goal.

Buggenhout Brewers will meet Red Rhinos lacrosse in the grand final this Saturday at Mechelsbroek, Bonheiden. Face off at 15.30.
