Now the Belgian Cup is halfway it’s time to recap some important moments for the Rhinos.

2 teams are joining the Belgian Cup this year, the men’s team and the women’s team. For the women’s team it’s the first time they join an official Belgian competition, a historical moment for lacrosse in Belgium and in Bonheiden.

During the past 2,5 years we lost a lot of players to new teams because they wanted to start a new club in their neighbourhood. This had an impact on the amount of players we had for every game and ofcourse the level as well.

Ex-Rhinos started Ghent, Antwerp, Buggenhout, Heist and Machelen.

For this season we still can count on 24 players on the roster which is splendid news for us. A lot of solid players stayed at the club and got even better then previous season. Practices are getting harder and better so the level will grow for every player.

Ghent Goblins – Red Rhinos 3-10 (0-6, 1-1, 1-3, 1-0)

We played one of the best 1st quarters of the entire season. Our fast breaks were perfect and that was it then. 20 minutes of good lacrosse and a quarter score of 0-6. Emile Drijvers was flawless. But after the 1^ste quarter the level went down.

With only one good quarter in the previous game we wanted to expand this to 2 or 3 good quarters. We played against a good team with a lot of motivated souls on the field. We played well the first 2 quarters and made quite some goals. It was a better game then against Ghent and this resulted in a better game to watch. After the 2nd quarters we gave some new guys some extra minutes of playing time to gain some experiences. Overall a better game but we still had a lot of work ahead of us.

The game of the season, whoever wins this game is almost certain of spot 1 in the semi final. Prior to the game the pressure was on during practice. We all wanted to show Belgium that we could play a solid game of lacrosse for 4 quarters. It was perfect weather for lacrosse, around 14 -15 degrees and we were eager. The coaches did a good job to prepare the players for this game. We had a perfect start making some good plays on the offensive side which resulted in nice goals by the German connection Torben and Enrico. The transition from Defense to Attack was nicely done by the solid defense and middies. We played a solid game of 4 quarters.

Our first trip to Halle to get our 4th victory in a row this season. With some good defense and a lot of shots we won the game easily with more than 20 goals.

So we will have a good oppurtunity to reach finals if we keep playing like this!
