Goblins poised to turn the tables
The Ghent Goblins had some difficult past few weeks. Their opening game against the undefeated Red Rhinos resulted in a 3-10 loss. Eventhough the Goblins were the underdog in this match, they still believed they could have won this one. They were highly motivated and ready for the new season. This optimism failed to translate itself into actual results, and the Rhinos charged the first quarter without much hinder. The Goblins eventually crawled back upon the ladder, but didn’t manage to do much good.

Ghent Goblins – Buggenhout Brewers 2-10 (0-4, 0-1, 1-2, 1-3)
But, no worries, no Belgian team has ever defeated the Rhinos, so they shouldn’t be ashamed. Their next game was against their befriended team, the Buggenhout Brewers. These were usually tense games that the Goblins could overcome, so they got themselves motivated again to bring home the win. Yet again, they were overwhelmed. The midfield from the brewers dominated the Goblins and completely overthrew the defence. The game ended in a 2-10 loss, which was even worse than the Rhinos-game.

Lille Spartiates – Ghent Goblins 9-4 (2-0, 0-2, 2-1, 5-1)
Two losses in a row and now they had to face Lille, the runner-up champion after the Rhinos. Since their line-up wasn’t all that good, the Goblins were eager again to make this their first win. Never before they played this well against Lille, they were even in the lead for a few minutes thanks to their Ukranian beast, Roman. But then it happened, François Labbé got more into his game and started with his goalscoaring routine, taking seven out of nine goals. The game ended in a 9-4 loss which was terrible for the Goblins.
The third game and loss of the season was a terrible start. The team that was founded second in Belgium was now standing in sixth position. After facing all of the best opponents from Belgium in a row, they were now eager to get a win.
